Look for the best free disk cloning software to clone your Seagate internal or external hard drive in Windows 7/8/10? How about DiscWizard? It has some limitations.

Overview of Seagate DiscWizard

Seagate DiscWizard is an integrated disk cloning software. However, you should follow the strict rules of it so that you can successfully achieve disk cloning task while using it- The DiscWizard cannot clone a single partition, so the only option for you is to clone an entire drive which will migrate the whole contents of one disk to another including the operating system and installed programs along with settings. In addition, you should remove the existing drive from the computer and install the new drive in its place so to be connected in exactly the same way as the old drive which is a must to get a chance of success. Most importantly, it does not support running on Windows 10 or Windows 8.1, which means if you require a disk migration on a Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 computer, this software will become useless.

AOMEI Backupper supports all editions of Windows which is so convenient and free. It can directly clone a GPT disk to a MBR disk and vice versa, besides it can clone a single partition as you wish. Following, we will show you how to clone a disk to another.

Step 1: Download, install and launch AOMEI Backupper Standard. Select “Disk Clone” under “Clone” tab.

Step 2: Select the disk you want to clone as source disk (here is disk 0, a GPT disk), then click “Next”.

Select Disk

Step 3: Select the destination disk you want to clone your Seagate disk to (here is disk 1, a MBR disk) and click “Next”.

Select Destination Disk

Tips: If you clone a GPT disk to a MBR disk, you can only clone 3 partitions at most a time while using clone utility and the remaining partitions can be clone to the destination disk by “Partition Clone” utility.

Step 4: In the next window, you can view the operation which will be executed. Here, “Edit partition on the destination disk”, “Sector by Sector clone” and “Align partition to optimize for SSD” can be set as you wish. (If your disk is SSD, we strongly suggest you tick “Align partition……”. However, the “Sector by sector clone” will cost more time and storage space, so we don’t advice you choose it unless there is a special need.) Then, click “Start Clone”.
