Error Description: Unable to Inject the Driver into Windows Recovery Partition

During the installation of Intel® Optane™ memory, an error message is displayed: Unable to inject the driver into Windows Recovery Partition. This error may occur during the setup of Intel® Optane™ memory because the Windows recovery partition is missing from the drive to be accelerated (primary drive). This may occur because the drive's partition style was converted from MBR to GPT prior to setting up Intel® Optane™ memory.

To resolve this issue and be able to set up Intel® Optane™ memory, reinstall the operating system and make sure the BIOS is set to UEFI. this will allow the installation to use the GPT partition style and create the recovery partition during the OS installation.

Once the installation is complete, continue with the Intel® Optane™ memory setup process as described in How to Install and Manage Intel® Optane™ Memory Devices.

Intel® Optane™ memory delivers a personalized, responsive experience with minimal lag time by learning your most frequently used programs and making them ready to use. It even notices how your habits change over time and adjusts so you don't miss a beat.

Back Up Your Data before Reinstalling the Operating System

Reinstalling Windows is not the same as the "Reset your PC" option in the operating system. The latter simply sets the computer to its factory default state, which may include some vendor-installed applications or bloatware. In a clean install, the user starts with a new Windows operating system.

When you encounter the problem of "Unable to inject the driver into Windows Recovery partition" while setting up Intel Optane memory, you can only reinstall Windows to successfully install Intel memory. Therefore, before reinstalling Windows, make a backup of your important data.

Here we recommend you a free backup software - AOMEI Backupper Standard. Whether you want to backup files or disks, it is very easy to operate. If you are using this software for the first time, you can follow the steps shown below. First, download and install it on your computer. Get Rid of “Unable to Inject the Driver into Windows Recovery Partition” Issue

To fix the Intel “unable to inject the driver into Windows Recovery partition” issue, it is recommended to perform a fresh installation of Windows 10 using a GUID partition table (GPT) with UEFI enabled.

If you are using a Master Boot Record (MBR) style partition table, some features may not work. System acceleration with Intel Optane memory is not available when using the MBR.

Note⛔: If your disk partition style is MBR, you should convert MBR to GPT before reinstalling Windows.

  1. Connect a USB Windows 10 UEFI install key.
  2. Boot the system into the BIOS (for example, using F2 or the Delete key). Locate the Boot Options Menu.
  3. Set Launch CSM to Enabled. If CSM is set to Disabled, you can skip to step 5 below. Set Boot Device Control to UEFI Only. Set Boot from Storage Devices to UEFI driver first.

Launch CSM

  1. Save your changes and restart the system.
  2. Reenter the BIOS (for example, using F2 or the Delete key). Confirm in the Boot Priority List that the USB UEFI OS Boot option is at the top of the list.
