Best way to deploying same operating system to many different computers that with dissimilar hardware using AOMEI Backupper and Image Deploy to solve practical issue.

When need to deploy/restore an OS to many computers?

It happens often that your company is about to configure more computers for new employees. However, the task of installing OS (operating system) and necessary applications on every bare computer seems multifarious. As an administrator, you are wondering is there a simple and safe way to deploy the same OS to many computers, though they have dissimilar hardware.

There is another possibility that you have several computers, each with different operating systems. Now you prefer to use one of them (assume it is Windows 8) and intend to change the different operating systems into that Windows 8. On these occasions, you need an OS deployment tool to deploy same operating system to many computers.

Restore Windows system image to different computers using AOMEI Image Deploy

AOMEI Image Deploy (AID) Free is specialized software that designed for system image restoring, especially in restoring a large number of computers that in the same segment in LAN, regardless of similar or dissimilar hardware. Theoretically, you put the system image on one PC, and boot other client PCs from network (this can be set in BIOS), then start restoring.

All steps in AOMEI Image Deploy are easy with its clear interface. If you have lots of computers to be deployed, this is your best choice. Click to learn how to use AID to restore system image. However, if there are just several computers to be restored, you may turn to the second solution.

Deploy an OS to many computers with AOMEI Backupper

AOMEI Backupper offers a special feature called Universal Restore, which is used to restore a particular system backup image to different/dissimilar computers. Even the target computers have different hardware configurations. During the restoration, AOMEI Backupper can automatically identify the hardware configurations. If there is any difference with the source computer, ti will adopt Universal Restore automatically.

Preparation work:

You need to prepare a system backup of the OS you want to deploy and store it on network/NAS (recommended) or an external hard drive. Also, you need to create a bootable media with AOMEI Backupper if the target computers cannot boot.

Situation One: the target computers boot normally

In this case, the operation is much easier than you have thought. First of all, you need to start the target computer, install and launch AOMEI Backupper. Then turn the interface to Restore. You should find the system image by clicking Path. If you stored the system image on network/NAS, you are bond to find it after connecting to that network/NAS. If you stored the system image to an external hard drive, connect it to target computer and make sure it can be detected by AOMEI Backupper.

Find System Image

From now on follow the guidance to finish dissimilar hardware restore. They are just a few clicks so don’t worry. What needs to mention is that you’d better not choose system partition as destination, or it will be overwritten. Choose another location for system restoration. When everything is done, reboot the target computer and set it to boot from the new system in BIOS.

Situation Two: the target computers are new or cannot boot

This situation often comes to bare computers or dead computers. However, it is not a threat at all. AOMEI Backupper has already provided the function of creating bootable media in Utilities. With this tool you can easily boot the target computers.

First of all, please create a bootable media as well as a system image to an external hard drive on the source computer.

Create Bootable Media

Secondly, connect this bootable media to target computer. Then this computer will be booted (boot) and AOMEI Backupper will pop-out. The rest operations are the same as what has been told in Situation One. The only difference is that you can choose any local partition as the destination and don’t need to reset the System boot up sequence.

Another way for Situation Two: you can also seek help form AOMEI PXE Boot Tool in Utilities, This tool can realize to boot the target computers within the same LAN at the same time.
