Do you need the set and forget backup software?
Most people understand the importance of backing up data, but some of them may fails to actually do it because they think backup is too complicated and troublesome. There are times when people who usually do backups find it overwhelming to decide what to include in the backup. in this case, you need the set and forget backup software. You need only once set up a full hard drive backup, and then it will continuously keep creating backups as the way you configure it. When the backup disk where all the backup image files are saved is full, the program will automatically delete one or more old versions of backup to free up more space for the new coming backups.
Set it and forget it backup software
To be able to run set and forget backup, you need a piece of auto backup software that is able to run scheduled/automatic backups to any storage devices like hard drives, SSDs, NAS network locations, CDs, DVDs, or USB flash drives, etc. Moreover, the program must have automatic disk space management to delete old backup in case the backup disk is full. Luckily, AOMEI Backupper can do exactly all that. It is available in different editions to fit different operating systems. For PCs in Windows 10/8/7, one can use the AOMEI Backupper Professional edition, and for Windows Server 2016/2012/2008, one can use the Server edition. Besides, it supports incremental backup and differential backup to backup only changed data, so the backup will be swift and consuming much less space. You can also set up a backup to run at computer startup/shutdown or users log on/off.
How to set a backup and then forget it?
The backup image will take about half of the original data in the backup. You can also set to high image compression level to save more space in Settings, and apparently high level compression will increase backup time. You can follow the steps below to set up an automated backup and then you can forget it.
Step1. Download the right edition of this auto backup software on your computer. Install and launch it.
Step2. At the Home screen, click Backup. Then it brings you 4 kinds of backup, system backup, disk backup, partition backup, and file backup. Select one based on your needs. Here, it is system backup.
Step3. In the next screen, click “Step 2” to choose the destination path where the backup image will be saved.
Step4. Check Schedule box down the bottom, and then decide how and when you want the backup to run. After that, go back to the System Backup screen.
Step5. Click “Scheme”, and in a pop out window, check the “Enable Disk Space Management” option. Then select a backup scheme to decide how you want to the program to delete old versions of backup.
Step6. After all settings are done, click “Start Backup” to run the backup.
The Disk Space Management will automatically delete old backups when there is not enough space for the next backup. Therefore, once the backup is set, the program will keep doing the backup as you planed no matter how many backup versions have been saved. That is why AOMEI Backupper is regarded as set and forget backup software. Once the backup is done, you can also create a bootable media in order to restore when Windows fails to load.
