AOMEI Backupper is good to create an SSD backup image, which can help to transfer all SSD contents to another physical drive or simply make a full SSD backup.

Why need SSD backup image?

To begin, SSD (Solid State Drive) is a storage disk which made by solid state electronic storage chip. Unlike HDD (hard disk drive), SSD has no moving parts, the data are stored on the memory chips(consists of flash chip and Dynamic Random Access Memory(DRAM) chip). So, the data on the SSD can be read and written faster than HDD.

Then, an SSD backup image is nothing more than a direct copy of the entire drive but compressed into a single file for space conservation. After doing SSD image backup, you can restore the entire image to a separate drive or you can retrieve individual files from within the image. For example, with a disk image, you can restore data of previous normal state to a new computer you just buy, you can upgrade your old hard disk to a new one to solve the problem of low running speed, and you can restore missing files due to system crash or other disk problems. Anyway, an SSD backup image is useful, and next we’ll show you how to create SSD backup image with AOMEI Backupper.

How to create SSD backup image?

AOMEI Backupper is a powerful backup software with ease-to-use interface, which supports all editions of Windows including Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 of both 32bit and 64bit. Here, please follow us to create SSD backup image, and more exactly, backup SSD.

Step 1: Download, install and launch AOMEI Backup Standard. Select “Disk Backup” under “Backup” tab.

Step 2: Name the backup task, select the disk you need to backup at “Step 1” and select the destination path at “Step 2”. (“Backup Options” is optional. “Schedule” can be set to do auto backup daily, weekly and monthly of exact time.) Then click “Start Backup”.

Step 3: Click “Finish” when operation is done.

When there is a need for you to restore an image to SSD, AOMEI Backupper can also be helpful to align partition to optimize for SSD:

There are two alignment possibilities used by Windows:CHS(Cylinder, Head, Sector)alignment and 1MB alignment. And SSD require partition alignment to 4KB boundaries for optimum performance and life, which is fine with 1MB aligned partitions (1MB aligned partitions are also aligned on 4KB boundaries) but not CHS aligned partitions(CHS aligned partition are often aligned on 31.5KB which will degrade SSD performance and life time). Therefore, a software with partition alignment function is needed.
